Autodiscover Unregistered Patch Instructions
The autodiscover.uiuc.edu address will be unregistered on May 14, 2008. This change has the potential to affect users who fall into all of the criteria listed below:
- The computer is not a member of Active Directory or cannot access it directly (such as off-campus locations without VPN)
- The computer is using Outlook 2007 via MAPI or Outlook Anywhere
- In Active Directory the users email From: address is set to netid@uiuc.edu or netid@illinois.edu
After the change is implemented, affected users who have not applied this patch may be prevented from seeing updated free/busy information and any updated offline address book information.

- Can I apply the patch anytime?
Yes.
- Will I still be able to read my mail if I dont apply the patch?
Yes. Clients who dont apply the patch will function normally except for the offline address book and free/busy information.
- Do I need to apply the patch on my machine?
You only need the patch on a machine if all of the above criteria are met and you need updated free/busy information or updated offline address book information
- Is the Exchange autodiscover service being turned off?
No, autodiscover is still running on the default address of autodiscover.ad.uiuc.edu. You do not need to know or configure
anything with that address unless you are doing custom programming tasks with Exchange.
